Wireless information technology
is undoubtedly the technology of the future. It is essential
for Hong Kong tertiary institutions to play a leadership
role in this area of applied research and lay the foundation
for future technological advancement. To meet this challenge
the Center for Wireless Information Technology (CenWIT)
was set up in September 1997
at
the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology.
The mission of CenWIT is to establish a centre for wireless
information technology which:

Performs high caliber research
and development;

Offers excellent training
and education for undergraduate and graduate students;

Provides technology transfer
and consultant services for industry and government;
and
-
Addresses unique issues
confronting the Asia Pacific region and China
